Esports World Cup 2024

EWC 2024

The major League of Legends leagues will come to a halt from July 4th to 7th for the Esports World Cup, a renowned tournament held in Saudi Arabia. This event aims to draw the spotlight to esports in the Arab country by distributing tens of millions of dollars in prizes.

said Ralf Reichert, CEO of the non-profit Esports World Cup Foundation, in an interview with GamesBeat.

“Lo que estamos anunciando hoy es en realidad el premio en metálico, que es de 60 millones de dólares o más, y que pretende ser un testimonio de lo serios que somos en cuanto a hacer que esto sea lo más grande posible”, dijo. “No solo cambia las vidas de los jugadores. Lo que prometemos es que también cambia las vidas de los clubes. Ya sabes, la economía de los clubes. Así que es muy, muy importante en ese sentido”.

The prize surpasses the previous record of $45 million awarded at Gamers8: The Land of Heroes, held in 2023 in Riyadh. And this time, the top esports organizations that earn the most points across 20 different game tournaments will collectively receive $20 million.

The Esports World Cup will feature some of the world’s biggest esports games, including League of Legends, which will continue to hold its League of Legends World Championship as a separate event. The Esports World Cup will showcase the world’s best esports clubs and athletes in 20 different tournaments held over the eight-week program.

During the eight weeks, there may be three tournaments ongoing at any given time. Last year, hundreds of thousands of people attended the Gamers8 festival, which culminated in an extravaganza of esports tournaments.

The generous reward represents a significant step in the effort by the Esports World Cup Foundation to grow the global esports industry while providing more sustainable career options for athletes and multidisciplinary esports clubs. It will also help support the EWC as a platform that brings together the best athletes, teams, and organizations for an international celebration of esports excellence and fandom.

A boost for the esports industry “Setting the record for the largest prize in esports is a remarkable achievement, but what I am most proud of is the positive message this sends to the broader esports and gaming community,” said Reichert. “More than $60 million is a testament to our investment in the future of global esports, a commitment to esports fans who deserve exceptional events, and an extension of our mission to create meaningful competitive opportunities with life-changing prizes for esports athletes everywhere.
