League of Legends: Essence Emporium’s Long Hiatus Announced
The current League of Legends patch was one of the most anticipated by the community, not just because of the balance changes, but because the Essence Emporium was set to return to the game. The Essence Emporium is a “special shop” where players can buy multiple MOBA accessories with Blue Essences. However, it only opens at certain times of the year, on special occasions.
Unfortunately, it’s not all good news regarding the Essence Emporium. Riot Games has confirmed that once this patch is over and the Emporium closes again, it won’t return for a long time. This means it may not be back for the Christmas holidays and might not be available for the rest of the year.
Riot Games’ Statement
Through a statement, Riot Games confirmed that the Essence Emporium will be renewed and will not return for a long time:
“When the Essence Emporium closes its doors, it will take a break while we renovate it. Right now it’s so inefficient that it causes delays and slows down other projects like events and quests. In addition to making the emporium easier to manage, we’re also exploring much-needed navigation and usability improvements for when it returns.”
Implications for Players
Through this announcement, it was confirmed that the Essence Emporium will say goodbye to League of Legends for a long time. This would not be the first time Riot Games has decided to renew a feature related to the in-game store. For instance, the Mythic Store underwent changes, leaving prestige points behind and creating a new currency to claim these aspects.
Compensation for Players
As expected, this measure can be a nuisance for some League of Legends players. To mitigate the impact, Riot Games will reward all users with three free missions in which they can obtain 30 Mythic Essences in total.
