As of today, League of Legends boasts an impressive roster of 168 playable champions, and this number continues to grow at a rapid pace.
It’s been nearly 4 months since Riot Games officially launched the latest champion in League of Legends, that little dragon who began wreaking havoc on the Rift with its infinite scaling and sparked so much controversy upon release.
Smolder arrived on January 31st as champion number 167, and it’s been quite a few weeks since we’ve heard any news about the next character. However, it seems we’ll soon find out who joins the Rift as the 168th champion.
Riot has provided details on which characters will arrive this year, one of them being a mid-range mage oriented for the top lane. It appears that dataminers have unearthed new information about her.
Her name would be Aurora, hailing from Vastaya, a region teeming with chimeric creatures like Ahri, Rakan, Neeko, or Xayah. She would bear resemblances to the rabbit animal, although the specifics of how are not yet known.
Aurora would be journeying towards Freljord, reflected in her outfit featuring a warm hood and goggles, which were initially rumored to be designed for Sylas by Riot Games but were ultimately discarded.
Her role in the game will be that of a mid-range mage, akin to champions like Ryze, Sylas, or Cassiopeia, and she would be oriented towards the top lane. This suggests that her release may align with the current meta.
Aurora: Confirmed with her own backstory
After several days of speculation, Riot Games has finally confirmed Aurora’s backstory as the Earth spirit who will soon arrive in the top lane. Here’s a video about her:
